Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of a conceptual problem solving (CPS) approach on students' physics representation and problem-solving abilities. The research design was a quasi experiment with a pretest-posstest nonquivalent group design. The study population was all students of Class XI MIA SMA Negeri 2 Palu. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Class XI MIA 1 as the experimental class and Class XI MIA 2 as the control class. Data analysis using t-test using SPSS 22.0 application at a significance level of 0.05 with the prerequisite test for normality and homogeneity. The results of the statistical test of representation ability obtained Sig. = 0,000 and problem-solving Sig. = 0.000 with criteria to accept Ho if Sig. > 0.05 and reject H0 if Sig. <0.05. Sig value. <0.05 so that Ho is rejected with the conclusion that there is an effect of the conceptual problem solving (CPS) approach on students' physics representation and problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mistakes made by students in solving problems on momentum and impulse. This research was conducted at SMA Negeri 3 Palu in class XI MIA 3 consisting of 25 students. This research was a qualitative descriptive approach. The data collection instruments used were essay tests and interviews. Respondents were selected based on the ability level of students which were divided into high, medium and low categories. Based on the results of the study showed that the mistakes made by students in solving momentum and impulse questions were still relatively high. This can be seen from the test results which show that there were still so many mistakes made by students. Mistakes that were done by students including translation, conceptual, strategy and counting errors.

Abstract

This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach that aims to describe students' qualitative understanding on density. This research was conducted at SMP Labschool UNTAD Palu. The subjects of this study were students of grade 7th with a total of 15 students. The research instrument used was the respondent selection test, the density concept understanding test and interviews. The respondent selection test consisted of 25 questions given to 15 students to determine 6 respondents and the essay test on understanding the density concept consisted of 5 questions given to 6 selected respondents. Based on the results of the study, it shows that students' qualitative understanding of the concept of density is still low where only some understand and some do not understand and experience misconceptions, the ability of each indicator of students' conceptual understanding, including translation was still not good, indicators of understanding the concept of interpretation are still not good and indicators of understanding the concept of interpretation are still not good. understanding of the concept of extrapolation is also still lacking and the qualitative understanding of respondents in the high category shows a better qualitative understanding than the respondents in the medium and low categories and the qualitative understanding of the respondents in the medium and low categories tends to show the same results.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the interpretation of class XI MIA 1 students at SMA Negeri 3 Palu on numerical graphs on GLB and GLBB material. This study used a qualitative descriptive method which was carried out on students of class XI MIA 1 SMA Negeri 3 Palu. Sampling was done by means of purposive sampling/consideration. The data in this study were collected through observation, written tests in the form of descriptions, and interviews. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of data analysis, there are several difficulties when interpreting graphs, namely: (1) interpreting a combination of several numerical graphs, (2) interpreting numerical graphs by connecting graphs with physical concepts, (3) interpreting the acceleration of objects on a velocity versus time graph, (4) interprets an object that moves backward until it stops but the line graph goes up, (5) determines the motion of an object on a numerical graph of two objects in one numerical graph.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kesulitan-kesulitan yang dialami siswa dalam konsep fisika pada topik fluida statis. Subjek penelitian ini terdiri dari 20 siswa dan dipilih 8 responden secara acak. Data kesulitan siswa diperoleh melelui pemberian tes diagnostik dan dikonfirmasi melalui kegiatan wawancara kepada responden penelitian. Tes diagnostik terdiri dari enam soal dengan materi fluida statis. Data penelitian dianalisis melalui pendekatan deskriftif-kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan kesulitan yang dialami siswa pada topik fluida statis adalah kesulitan pemahaman fakta, kesulitan pemahaman konsep dan kesulitan matematis. Kesulitan-kesulitan ini timbul kerena kurang telitinya siswa dalam membaca soal, pemahaman yang keliru tentang konsep fluida statis, rendahnya kemampuan siswa dalam konversi satuan, serta siswa tidak membaca kembali hasil pekerjaan sebelum mengumpulkan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh model discovery learning terhadap kemampuan literasi sains siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Banawa Selatan. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan eksperimen kuasi dengan equivalen pretest-posttest group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Banawa Selatan pada tahun ajaran 2021-2022. Teknik sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian ini adalah kelas VIII A sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII C sebagai kelas kontrol dengan jumlah siswa masing-masing kelas sebanyak 21 orang. Instrumen tes kemampuan literasi sains yang di gunakan dalam bentuk pilihan ganda. Sebelum di gunakan telah divalidasi melalui validator ahli. Hasil tes kemampuan literasi sains siswa diperoleh skor rata-rata pada posttest yaitu 11,29 untuk kelas eksperimen setelah diberi perlakuan dan 9,81 pada kelas kontrol menerapkan model direct instruction. Hasil penelitian dan analisis data yang diperoleh, bahwa terdapat pengaruh model discovery learning terhadap kemampuan literasi sains siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Banawa Selatan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis uji mann whitney U diperoleh nilai Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) yaitu 0,002. Hal ini berarti nilai α (0,002) < 0,05. Hal ini berarti nilai α berada diluar daerah penerimaan H0. Dengan demikian H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima, yang berarti ada pengaruh model discovery learning terhadap kemampuan literasi sains siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Banawa Selatan.
